3rd Grade Class project for WRCNU

Riverton Elementary third graders from Mrs. Fay’s class tackle the June 21st Dump fire and its devastation to wildlife and habitat in their own amazing way!

After a raging fire tore through a Utah community and destroyed acres of a national forest, an amazing group of third graders banded together to help mend the damage and support the rehabilitation efforts of the Wildlife Rehabilitation center of Northern Utah.

The young students from Riverton Elementary School were inspired by their teacher, Mrs Fay, when she shared the story of Phoenix with them. The student's burning desire to help was ignited and they blazed forward, choosing to do everything they could do to help.

Over several weeks, the stunning students created a fantastic scrapbook chronicling Phoenix’s struggle and survival. They included beautiful artwork, letters of support, news articles and photos. They also burned the midnight oil assembling 29 bird perches for other injured birds and collected a mountain of supplies to help WRCNU continue to rehabilitate wildlife.

Their glowing kindness and willingness to take action, flares up hope for the future of wildlife, habitat, Utah and our world. Mrs Fay’s devoted third grade class helped change the lives of many wild animals with their fiery determination to help. We are very grateful for their smokin' efforts and staff, volunteers and Phoenix all want to thank them for all of their hard work!
